Phoenix City Retaliators ft. Dick Ronteltap
Saxofonist Dick Ronteltap is musician but also music therapist, deejay and visual artist. This musical glutton has played on many stages with his band ‘Convoi Exceptional’ including Oerol, Lowlands, Zwarte Cross and Pinkpop. In Jazzcafé Dizzy he is the host of ‘Dick’s World Grooves & Artifacts’ once a month. These are jam sessions in which he uses the stage as a meeting place to bring together different cultures and musical atmospheres. (every 2nd Thursday of the month) Tonight, however, he returns to his musical youth love: the Ska. Because old love does not rust, he joins forces with Rotterdam’s finest in old-school Jamaican music: Phoenix City Retaliators The Rotterdam based Ska/Reggae band Phoenix City Retaliators are very dedicated musicians. Their roots are deeply embedded in the Dutch ska scene. Their name refers to the city of Rotterdam: resurrected from its ashes to the metropolis it is today, like the Phoenix. Their sound brings a sparkle back into the ska.
